Research at the Astronomical Observatory of Bologna covers a broad range of topics in theoretical and observational astrophysics. Major areas of interest are stellar physics, stellar populations, physics of the ISM, formation and evolution of galaxies and galaxy clusters, gravitational lensing, physics of the IGM, numerical hydrodynamics and cosmology. The Institute is also involved in the construction of telescope instrumentation and in the development of software for astronomical analysis.
